Use Oma Kymenlaakso easily on a mobile device or via an internet browser
- You can use the Oma Kymenlaakso service via a mobile app or at www.omakymenlaakso.fi.
- Accept the terms of use of the service and verify your identity using your online banking ID or a mobile certificate, for example.
- In the web browser version, you will need to verify your identify every time you visit the site. In the mobile app, you can create a four-digit PIN to access the service in the future.
- Please check your contact information in your profile, after which the service will be ready to use.

You can find the following services in Oma Kymenlaakso
- Talk to a professional without booking an appointment. Use of the chat service usually begins with filling out a preliminary information questionnaire. After this, a professional from the wellbeing services county will join the chat.

- Receive invitations to and attend video appointments Video appointments offer a safe way for you to meet with a professional remotely. To access a video appointment, log in to the Oma Kymenlaakso service using device with a camera and microphone.
- Fill out forms and questionnaires related to your situation, treatment and care easily.
- Use treatment pathways and self-care guidance. A professional can launch a guided treatment pathway specifically tailored to your situation. Open treatment pathways and guidance programmes are always available to you, if you wish to access them of your own initiative. - Check your contact details. Oma Kymenlaakso shows the health care appointments and types of appointments booked for you or those on whose behalf you are acting, i.e. whether it is a phone appointment, a remote appointment or a meeting at a health centre. You can also find laboratory referrals ordered for and available to you.
- Check your health information. Laboratory test results are made available in Oma Kymenlaakso once have been reviewed and confirmed. Some laboratory tests will be published with a slight delay.
- Keep your contact information up to date. If you give your consent in the service, we can send you service messages where relevant, such as notifications of forms to be filled in or reminders of appointments.
- You can also find guidance for other important services, such as laboratory appointments, social welfare applications, the treatment pathways app and MyKanta.
Manage a variety of matters on behalf of someone else too
Do you manage the wellbeing or health matters of a loved one? Oma Kymenlaakso makes it possible to act on behalf of someone else conveniently and safely. The service will verify your right to act on behalf of the person concerned using suomi.fi e-Authorizations. If your municipality of residence is not located in Kymenlaakso, you will be limited in which Oma Kymenlaakso services you can use, which may also affect your ability to act on behalf of another person.

FAQs
When is Oma Kymenlaakso available?
You can log into Oma Kymenlaakso at any time and use treatment programmes, fill out forms/questionnaires, check your health and appointment information, etc. You can contact professionals during service hours, which you can find in the details for each service channel. For example, the emergency service is open every day between 8:00 and 20:00, health clinic chat on weekdays between 7:00 and 20:00, and oral health chat on weekdays between 7:00 and 16:00.
How much does using the Oma Kymenlaakso service cost?
Chat services for the assessment of the need for treatment are free of charge, but some services, such as a remote appointment with a doctor, are subject to a fee. The fee charged for remote appointments is determined in accordance with the Decree and Act on Client Charges in Healthcare and Social Welfare.

I have a remote appointment booked in Oma Kymenlaakso. What should I do?
When you have a remote appointment booked in Oma Kymenlaakso, log in to the service using a device with a camera and a microphone. What to do:
- Verify your identity in Oma Kymenlaakso well in advance of the appointment.
- Please wait for a message from the professional at your appointment time. You can find the message in the ‘asiointi’ section of the Oma Kymenlaakso service.
- Clicking on the message sent by the professional will launch a conversation where the remote appointment will start. Accept the video call request from the professional and the remote appointment will begin.
Can Oma Kymenlaakso be used anonymously?
You can only use the service anonymously via the web browser version. There, you can use the chat services for rehabilitation, mental health services, and social welfare services via a secure and safe connection. When using services anonymously, you can only use the services in a limited manner and receive general advice on your issue. Your personal data will not be saved and you will not be able to return to the chat after it ends. When using a chat service anonymously, you will also have the option to verify your identity during the conversation.
Oma Kymenlaakso, but a professional has not received it / I have not heard from you since. What’s going on?
When you fill out a form, please make sure to carefully answer all the questions. Once the form is complete, you will be able to check your answers and, if necessary, correct them before sending the form. Once you have checked your answers, remember to click the ‘Lähetä’ (‘Send’) button at the bottom of the page to submit your form, so that the information is passed on to a professional.
I can’t add my 12-year-old child to my profile to act on their behalf? What should I do?
By law, a parent can act on behalf of a child under 12 years of age.
Those aged 12–17 years can access digital health services by using strong identity verification. (Identification tokens used in Suomi.fi e-Identification(opens in a new window and transfers to another service)(avautuu uuteen ikkunaan, siirryt toiseen palveluun)). Banks issue online banking codes based on their own policies. You can request a mobile certificate from the phone service provider if the young person has their own mobile device.
A person under 18 years of age cannot use the Suomi.fi e-authorization service to authorise someone to act on their behalf, which would automatically entitle someone to act on their behalf in digital services.
Why can’t I access messages sent by a professional in Oma Kymenlaakso?
Make sure you have given your consent for messages to be sent in Oma Kymenlaakso. You can find this by tapping the ‘Minä’ (‘Me’) icon Make sure your phone also has app notifications on.
I was using a chat service in Oma Kymenlaakso, but the professional closed the chat before my issue had been resolved. What’s going on?
Once you have started a chat in Oma Kymenlaakso, keep the app open and do not close the chat until your issue is resolved. If the chat and app are open, the discussion will remain open. If you close the chat or app, the professional will interpret this as you having finished the discussion. No records are stored of chats that are cut short. Another tip: activate notification tones on your phone to make it easier to notice when a new message is received in a chat.
I am authorised to act on behalf of a loved one, but I can’t seem to manage to do so. How does acting on behalf of someone else in Oma Kymenlaakso work?
When you are authorised to act on behalf of another person, it is easy and safe to do so in Oma Kymenlaakso. The service will verify your right to act on behalf of the person concerned using suomi.fi e-Authorizations. You can add the information about the person you are representing in your personal information in the ‘Minä’ (‘Me’) section. After that, you can, for example, first select the person on whose behalf you are acting when starting a chat discussion.
Please note that if you log into the service and your municipality of residence is not located in Kymenlaakso, you will be limited in which Oma Kymenlaakso services you can use, which may also affect your ability to act on behalf of another person.
Why can’t I find all of Oma Kymenlaakso’s services in the app?
Keep the Oma Kymenlaakso app updated at all times. This will ensure that you have access to all the features of the service. If you do not have automatic updates activated, remember to update Oma Kymenlaakso to the latest version in the app store on your phone.
How far back can laboratory results be viewed in Oma Kymenlaakso?
Laboratory test results from the beginning of 2021 onwards are visible in Oma Kymenlaakso. Results from before then can be found in MyKanta.
When I login to Oma Kymenlaakso, it suggests that I use Suomi.fi messages. What does this mean?
If you do are not using Suomi.fi messages, as of 12 May 2025 you will be prompted to use Suomi.fi messages when you log in to the online services of different authorities – including Oma Kymenlaakso. Suomi.fi messages is a service that allows you to read letters sent by authorities in electronic form safely and without undue delay. To access Suomi.fi messages, accept use of the service and confirm your e-mail address. After accepting use of the service, you will receive official communications by default in Suomi.fi messages. If you prefer, you do not have to accept or use Suomi.fi messages.

Currently, you can request your own documents from the Registry through Suomi.fi messages in the Wellbeing Services County of Kymenlaakso. Use of Suomi.fi messages has no impact on use of the Oma Kymenlaakso service. For example, you will continue to receive information about appointments by post or text message and you will be able to check your own appointments in the Oma Kymenlaakso service.
Can I make an appointment for a child aged 12 years or over in Oma Kymenlaakso?
A guardian may make an appointment through the digital appointment service on behalf of a person aged 12–17 years. If the young person makes the appointment themselves through the digital appointment booking service, they can choose when making the appointment whether the guardian will be able to see that an appointment has been booked.
- A guardian can see all the appointments booked for a child under 12 years of age
- A guardian will see the appointments booked for a 12–17-year-old by the guardian through the digital appointment service.
- A guardian will see appointments a 12–17-year-old booked themselves through the digital service if the young person has opted for the appointment to be visible to the guardian.
- If a professional has booked an appointment for a person aged 12 years or older, the appointment will not be visible to the guardian
The age limits for acting on behalf of someone else in chats, forms and questionnaires in the Oma Kymenlaakso service will not change. A guardian may still act on behalf of a person under 12 years of age. Those aged 12–17 years old can manage their affairs with their guardian or independently.
